Our History: Soil 2 Soul
It’s traveling the world to taste and to learn. It’s weekends in the garage leading to neighborhood get togethers. It’s the curiosity that turned into a passion to create a more flavorful beer. We are Grainworks Brewing. Built on the same soil from which Cincinnati’s greatest breweries harvested their grain, Grainworks Brewing pours that rich history into every glass. It’s beer with a heritage. It’s beer with a soul.
Just over a mile south of Grainworks, Hopewell Early Childhood School stands as the site Brian and Anthony met in Miss Gwyn’s kindergarten class. After getting in trouble for arm wrestling and being sent into the hall, a friendship was cemented (No one remembers who was winning). Brian eventually attended Reading High School, meeting Steven (right) in freshman year on the golf team. Steven was an early adopter of something called broadband. Brian invited Anthony to Steven’s to see the speedy, always-on internet. All three were quickly united and have stayed close ever since.
Beer became the 4th friend a few years later, and Brian went to work home brewing. As the first downtown Cincinnati breweries started to come online, he had been refining his home brewing skills for nearly 10 years. Steven was operating his own construction company and could build anything. Anthony’s career in IT had led him to pursue a business degree. It seemed the necessary pieces were in place and indeed they were. Following years of planning and construction, Grainworks Brewing Company hosted its grand opening on September 9th, 2017.
